Spring/Summer Appeal 23

Dear reader,

I would like to say in my Indigenous Comanche language “URA,” or thank you, for your past contributions to the Appalachian Community Fund.

I am happy to report that we are continuing to grow our endeavor as bold, forward-thinking, and inclusive champions of the people of Appalachia. You can count on ACF to uplift the voices of its community, supporting its community’s vision for change, and advancing local leadership.  We have energetically embodied the power of collective action and bottom-up transformation and we are stimulating social change in our backyards through our grantmaking.

This year we have made many moves.

  • Out In Appalachia: LGBTQ & Pride Leaders are planning a regional convening for Central Appalachia. There will be panels on organizing in small towns, cooperation across the region, joint fundraising, mutual defense, and participation in grantmaking panels. We will also discuss what a rural LGBTQ network & Pride meeting will look like with actionable next steps. We will then host a banquet for participants, and nearby activists, with musical performances, and comedy after supper for our participants.

  • We have welcomed four new board members! Our new board members are from VA, and TN, and all of them are committed to being the change we want to see in our communities and ready to serve on this board with this same passion.

  • On May 13th ACF’s fundraiser in WV, Charleston for Change focused on highlighting the grantees and their work in the room. We also uplifted regional artists in our entertainment. We formed valuable new relationships, and many new memories were made.

Folks like you who give to ACF regularly believe in our mission, and we share a vision for a better future.

We are once again asking for you to consider contributing so that we may continue to support Change, Not Charity in Central Appalachia.

Contribute here!

In solidarity,

Taysha DeVaughan Donor Engagement Coordinator/ Development Coordinator

PS I would love to hear from you! taysha@appalachiancommnityfund.org
