OUR COMMITMENT TO ACCESSIBILITY

We believe in building an Appalachia where every neighbor has the power, agency, and access to participate fully in our region's future.

What We Are Doing

We strive to align our digital presence with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1, Level AA), which define how to make web content more accessible for people with diverse needs. Some of the active measures we take include:

  • UserWay Accessibility Widget: We have integrated the UserWay Accessibility Plugin on our website. This tool allows visitors to customize their user interface. A visitor can adjust text size, alter contrast, highlight links, and modify the page layout to suit their viewing needs.

  • Accessible Media: We ensure that all images across our site include descriptive alternative text (alt text) for screen readers, and our video content is paired with accurate captions so that no one is excluded from our stories.

  • Continuous Improvements: We view web accessibility as an ongoing journey. We routinely audit our site, update our systems, and integrate user feedback to fix bugs and improve overall usability for every neighbor who visits us.
