Undocumented and marginally documented people contribute to our community. State and federal policies prohibit them from accessing the social safety net. Undocumented people can’t receive unemployment benefits and many other state and federal resources, including the federal government’s stimulus package. Many do not have healthcare. Families seeking emergency relief during this public health crisis will complete a short application. Our basic principle is to help those in need whose immigration status excludes them from most other sources of disaster relief. Funds will be distributed directly to undocumented and marginally documented families in our community to help them pay bills, buy food, and receive medical attention. If you or someone you know is undocumented or marginally documented and in need of help, please call Centro Hispano at 865-522-0052 to complete the application in English or Spanish. https://weareakin.wordpress.com/2020/04/08/fundraiser-support-for-undocumented-families-in-knox-area-covid19/FREELANCE JOURNALISTS & AUTHORS:  American Society of Journalists and Authors $2,500 emergency assistance fund helps established freelance writers who, have experienced illness, disability, a natural disaster.
