End of Year Appeal
I want to thank you for your consideration of contributing to the Appalachian Community Fund. As you know, ACF is bold, forward-thinking, and inclusive—a champion of the people of Appalachia. By lifting its community’s voices, supporting its vision for change, and advancing local leadership, ACF energetically embodies the power of collective action and bottom-up transformation. Inclusivity is paramount to ACF’s definition of community— and this value is lived out in ACF’s efforts to give many different voices a platform. To ACF, “y’all means all” is much more than a fun catchphrase. ACF’s commitment to effective, people-driven progress works in harmony with—and is bolstered by—its firm Appalachian roots. Beyond honoring Appalachian culture and heritage, ACF’s approach to change-making fundamentally reflects the spirit of Appalachia: gritty, resourceful, and with a well-developed instinct for problem-solving. At the heart of the brand is a staunch belief in sharing resources, energy, time, and ideas with each other to achieve a common vision for change and shift the narrative about Appalachia. We must build for the future as we strive to create sustainable and lasting communities rooted in justice. I am tasked this year with assisting in securing our sustainability as a unique philanthropic organization. We are stimulating social change in our backyards through our grantmaking. In 2022, we awarded $679,400 in grants to 107 organizations and 12 individuals. Folks like you who give to ACF regularly are our best ambassadors! Thank you. You believe in our mission, and we share a vision for a better future. I wonder if you might know more people like yourself. I would like to ask you to reach out to your friends and ask them to match your contribution. If we can get you to bring in 10 friends at your matched giving level, we are a big step closer to securing the sustainability I mentioned earlier.
